FCA Huddle Re-cap Ex-Navy Seal Chad Williams MUST READ -PICTURES ATTACHED

Hello FCA Parents,
NHS  students had the privilege of hearing from ex- Navy Seal Chad Williams at the last Huddle.  Chad was a member of Seal Team 1 when he was in active duty. He  held  the attention of every student, parent and teacher in attendance with his riveting account of  two of his Seal buddies who gave their lives for their team.   First,  he shared of his former mentor Scotty who was in and out of foster homes,  until he enlisted in the Navy before graduating from high school.  To this day, he holds the record for being the youngest person to ever become a Navy Seal and breaking records in all areas of Seal training endurance. Scotty was tortured and killed in Afghanistan as he gave his life for the protection of his team and for his country. Equally courageous,  Chad  shared of another friend Markey, whose courage was recently reenacted in the movie "Act of Valor".  Markey  was on a team
mission when he was faced with the decision to jump off a roof to singly
avoid a grenade or jump on the grenade to save his team. He chose to
sacrifice his life for the safety of his team.  At the same time Chad
emphasized  the sacrifice Jesus made for each of us as he took the sin and judgment of our sins so we could have eternal life.  Furthermore, he
challenged each student to choose this day whom you will serve and proceeded to give an alter call in which 18 boys stood to receive Christ without hesitation!  Please continue to pray for these boys as Jared and Leadership work to follow-up with these boys and rejoice with us as we continue to be blessed by what God is doing through the ministry of FCA.
Lastly, if you desire to support the pizza ministry as it costs $500 for
each Huddle, please send checks payable to Monica Younger at 26 Rincon, 92620, or if you need a tax receipt please make checks payable to FCA.  Thank you all for your generosity!!!

Foothill FCA: Bryce Turi Shares Where to Reach When the Roof Caves In!

Thank you parents for praying for the Wednesday, March 7th Huddle, and for supplying the hot pizza and treats for 400+ kids!

Those high schoolers came in hungry, and left with the reminder that
Jesus is the only one who truly fills you!!
Bryce Turi, Calvary Chapel, Tustin's youth pastor, used the analogy of digging through a Kilimanjaro-sized laundry pile to find clean underwear to show how we keep digging in the same place trying to change our life. We keep looking in the same places to find fulfillment...with friends, money, drugs...but this never results in filling the soul or finding meaning in life. Bryce then pointed to the story of the woman at the well to explain that we can only find meaning through Jesus, as Christ Himself pointed out in John 4:13: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Bryce ended with an example of how real Jesus was to him when he, his wife and 18 month-old daughter miraculously survived a terrible car accident. (Have your kids tell you the details!) Through that experience "I felt the peace of God," Bryce said. "When the roof caves in on your life, know that there is God to reach out to!"

Thank you again, parents, for your prayers and hands-on help! These Huddles are the bright spot in the week for may Foothill students! Continue praying that those who don't know the Lord will come and hear the Truth and Hope that only Jesus Christ can give!

**** FCA Huddle Recap ****Irvine High School

                                  Good Afternoon FCA Families!!
Sorry for the delay in getting this out to all of you!!!  Here is a quick recap of our last FCA Huddle.   Before the speaker, the students competed in a relay game.....of passing the orange....attached pictures will explain   =).

Our speaker was Creg Darby.  Creg is the Family Ministries Pastor and Free Chapel Church in Irvine.

I asked Zoey Shade, one of our Junior FCA student leaders to write as short description of Creg’s message.  Here it is:

Last Thursday Pastor Creg came to us and talked about being a fighter.  In the beginning of his life, he was involved in physical fighting and after finding Christ that part of him evolved into emotionally fighting.   Pastor Creg shared with us, that even though it's easy to give up when things get hard, or just quit when it seems like things won't ever get better, you have to keep fighting.  God doesn't want you to give up and even if you're only fighting back inch by inch, God wants you to keep fighting through life.  Any heart with Christ in it is a strong one and Pastor Creg reminded all of us just how strong we can be.
At the end of Pastor Creg’s message, he invited kids to make a decision for Christ.  He asked all of the students to bow their heads and then asked those that wanted to make that decision to raise their hands.  As hands were raised, Pastor Creg would congratulate each raised hand, so while we all had our eyes closed,  we all were aware of how many hands were being raised.   It was such a powerful and moving moment.

Our Huddles of course could not happen with out the support of our wonderful parents:

Our Pizza sponsors for this huddle were the Hobbs, Kenny, Lockwood, Lee and Salerno families.   Thanks so much !!!

Baked Goods were lovingly provided by the Lee and Hobbs families.

Water bottles were pro
vided by the Johnson family.
Our amazing sound system is provided by the Alayra family.

Thank you, also to the moms who rolled up their sleeves during their lunch break to help serve water and pizza. We are so grateful for your help as this ministry continues to expand.
We have 6 Huddles left this year.  We are still in need of funds to cover pizza costs for each of those Huddles.  If you are able, in these tough times, to donate financially, please send a check made to IHS Athletic Boosters-FCA to:  Jodi Nordstrom, 9 Redrock, Irvine, Ca. 92604.  (Your donations are tax deductible!!)
THANK YOU PARENTS for your support!!!
Attached are some fun pictures from the day!

Our next Huddle is Thursday, March 22nd !!!
Blessings.......

Foothill FCA: Jana Alayra Shares how she Made Music from the Troubles of this World

Dear FCA Parents and Friends,

Thank you for supporting the
Wednesday, February 22nd Huddle with your help and prayers!

Guest speaker,
Jana Alayra's powerful testimony, blew away the 200 kids who crowded into Mr. Roundy's science classroom! Jana, who has three children, the youngest at Irvine High; shared the challenges she has faced and how God brought her through each one. "In this world you will have trouble"Jana quoted from John 16:33, "But take heart! I have overcome the world."Jana then shared the trouble she faced from the time she arrived in California as a teenager through her years as a young mother--unimaginable trouble including the suicide of a best friend, the death of her little sister, struggles with bulimia, an unfaithful husband who left her with two little children, and just when things were looking up, the death of her four year old daughter, Lynnie.

"It is not the life I would have chosen", Jana said, but she then shared how God used each of those tragedies for good. The songs our kids are most familiar with including "Jump, jump, jump into the light, light, light," and "Dig Down Deep"were written in response to her four year old's death. When Jana mentioned these songs, the buzz of conversation around the room increased as the "light dawned" on many of the kids who realized Jana was the voice of so many songs they had grown up listening to!
They had no idea that such joyful songs were a testimony to God's ability to overcome pain and sorrow!

It was a very powerful 15 minutes. We parents were certainly as blessed as the kids!

It still amazes us that we can do this--
share the truth of God's love, grace, and power--on our campus! For as long as He makes it possible, may we continue to be faithful in our prayers and constant in our support of both this ministry and the kids it is reaching!

Humbly,
Linda and Cherie

Foothill FCA: Ariele Challenges Students to "Really Know" their Peers

It is always a blessing for the students to hear one of their peers speak to them about something that is on their heart. After a crazy game of blindfolded musical chairs, Arielle Hahir did just that!

An eloquent and poised
Arielle challenged Foothill students to see beyond Facebook and Twitter to "really know" their friends. She used Psalm 139 as her text reminding students that God has "searched and known" them, and they should be doing the same with those around them. To drive home the point, she shared some very amazing things that few people know about her, including the fact that she was adopted by a family that found her beside a river in her homeland of China!

To get a taste of what happened at last week's Huddle,
check out the picture link: http://bit.ly/yWt13D and especially the video link posted by FCA student leader, Mikayla Feldman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNfCFN6aeoc&feature=youtu.be
Thank you again, parents, for your prayers, financial support, and helping hands at the Huddle events. Foothill was once a dark place where the evil one did as he liked and the voice of the righteous was small, but years of faithful prayers by Moms in Touch groups, continued investment by local churches, and strong, Christian families have all paved the way for the privilege we now enjoy of sharing the Gospel on our campus.

May we continue to be faithful to support the spread of
Truth and Hope in Christ Jesus!

In Him alone,
Linda and Cherie
