Easter Huddle-Irvine High School

                                  Good Evening FCA Families!!
I hope you had a wonderful spring break.  I wanted to send you all a quick recap of our last FCA Huddle right before the break.  Once again, the turnout was incredible, the bleachers were packed.  Lots of new faces too.

Our speaker was
Steve Johnson.  He is the high school pastor from Good Shepherd Lutheran.
I asked Hannah Torrey, one of our Senior FCA student leaders to write as short description of Steve’s message.  Here it is:

At our last Thursday's huddle, Steven Johnson from Good Shepherd spoke about Easter. He laid out a clear explanation of the history of Easter – how Jesus told the disciples that He would get arrested, and how Peter would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed. Steven taught us that the Easter story is one of hope because God loves us so much that he sent His son to die on the cross for our debts, and that putting our trust in worldly things is pointless because of what Jesus did for us. He asked us "what are we putting our hope in?" and "why are we looking for the living upon the dead?". Steven encouraged us to not live a lukewarm Christian life, but to pursue God with everything we have because once we've experienced God, our lives should change drastically, and that everything in the world will disappoint except God. He told the Easter story clear for students hearing it for the first time, but also related it to those who have been Christians, and urged us to give all we have to Christ. It was awesome that he was able to present the Easter story to new listeners, but also everyone else because we can never hear enough of the good news!
As you can see by Hannah’s recap, Steven’s message was perfectly timed with Easter and he really connected with the kids.

**** FCA Huddle Recap ****

                                  Good Afternoon FCA Families!!
Sorry for the delay in getting this out to all of you!!!  Here is a quick recap of our last FCA Huddle.   Before the speaker, the students competed in a relay game.....of passing the orange....attached pictures will explain   =).

Our speaker was Creg Darby.  Creg is the Family Ministries Pastor and Free Chapel Church in Irvine.

I asked Zoey Shade, one of our Junior FCA student leaders to write as short description of Creg’s message.  Here it is:

Last Thursday Pastor Creg came to us and talked about being a fighter.  In the beginning of his life, he was involved in physical fighting and after finding Christ that part of him evolved into emotionally fighting.   Pastor Creg shared with us, that even though it's easy to give up when things get hard, or just quit when it seems like things won't ever get better, you have to keep fighting.  God doesn't want you to give up and even if you're only fighting back inch by inch, God wants you to keep fighting through life.  Any heart with Christ in it is a strong one and Pastor Creg reminded all of us just how strong we can be.
At the end of Pastor Creg’s message, he invited kids to make a decision for Christ.  He asked all of the students to bow their heads and then asked those that wanted to make that decision to raise their hands.  As hands were raised, Pastor Creg would congratulate each raised hand, so while we all had our eyes closed,  we all were aware of how many hands were being raised.   It was such a powerful and moving moment.

Our Huddles of course could not happen with out the support of our wonderful parents:
