Huddle Re-cap -Nate Schwegman's Miracle Story A MUST READ!!!!

Dear FCA Parents,

A month ago our students had the privilege of  hearing from a young man by the name of Nate Schwegman.  Nate’s story  is nothing short of a miracle.  So much so that FCA  spotlighted Nate’s story as a testament to the power of prayer as one of our local Huddles prayed for a miracle and GOT IT!!!!  Please read the following article and be blessed.  Also, notice the picture of the students gathering around Nate to pray and lay hands on him…PRICELESS!!!  http://www.fca.org/vsItemDisplay.lsp?method=display&objectid=73F193BA-C296-6C1A-7A0C012EC4D37F1E

This story is a reminder that slinging pizza all year, baking treats and showing up to greet NHS students for Huddles is more than worth our time and resources.  As always, we are grateful for your support and encouragement as we labor together for the hearts and souls of our teenagers.

Lastly, if you feel led to give an end of the school year tax deductable donation,  please make checks payable to FCA.  If a deduction is not needed please make checks payable to Monica Younger at 26 Rincon, 92620.  Our last Huddle of the school year is scheduled for June 5th.

FCA Huddle Recap-Irvine

     Good Morning FCA Families!!
Its hard to believe that we are down to our last few Huddles.   Our last huddle was so awesome!!  Here is a quick recap...

30 Pizzas and 4 cases of water were quickly dispersed among the students as they filled the game gym.   The Huddle started off with a quick game and then our speaker was introduced to the kids.
Our speaker was Chad Williams,  a Former Navy Seal.   He is currently part of Harvest Church in Irvine.  Here is his testimony on video: http://www.harvest.org/crusades/testimonies/navy-seal.html
“Chad spent the first 5 or 10 minutes sharing with the about being a Navy Seal.  He also shared how he had lost some great friends.  He reminded the kids, that freedom is not free....and how Jesus told us in the bible, that “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”.  Chad told the students about how these great Navy Seals had laid down their lives for others, for us, so that we can have freedom.  You could tell that the kids understood this sacrifice and nodded their heads in gratitude.  Chad then made the connection to these acts of sacrifice and love, to what Jesus did for us on the cross.  He challenged the students to think about the cross and what Jesus did with the same gratitude they had felt earlier.  That Jesus died so we don’t have have to go to hell, that we can make a choice to accept this free gift.    Chad asked kids that wanted to make a decision to receive Jesus, to stand.  More than a dozen kids stood...in front of their peers....and prayed with Chad. :)  Chad had bibles on hand to give to anyone who wanted one.  It was an amazing huddle!”
The leadership team also presented Pink Roses for Mother’s Day to the Moms in attendance.  So sweet.
Our Huddles of course could not happen with out the support of our wonderful parents:
Several families generously donated to help cover the cost of the Pizza.... Torrey Family, Deklotz family, Hobbs Family, Lockwood Family and Salerno Family!!   Thank you all so much!!

Baked Goods were lovingly provided by the Carter & Hobbs families.

Water bottles were pro
vided by the Johnson family.
Our amazing sound system is provided by the Alayra family.

Thank you, also to the moms who rolled up their sleeves during their lunch break to help serve water and pizza. We are so grateful for your help as this ministry continues to expand.
We need your help to finance our last 2 huddles!!   If you are able, in these tough times, to donate financially, please send a check made to IHS Athletic Boosters-FCA to:  Jodi Nordstrom, 9 Redrock, Irvine, Ca. 92604.  (Your donations are tax deductible!!)

Foothill FCA: Aurelio Barreto Explains that only Christ can fill the Emptiness in your Heart

Dear FCA Parents,
Aurelio Barreto, founder of C28, commanded a packed audience of high schoolers last Wednesday, May 2nd, to share how empty his life was without Christ, and how finding Christ finally filled that emptiness.

As the son of poor immigrant parents, Aurelio struggled with acceptance. He tried to fill that hole with drugs, alcohol and girls, but he was so empty and in such emotional pain he wanted to die. In his 20s, he decided money would help him find meaning.
By 30, he had millions, but at 37, that hole still wouldn't go away. "I thought I was doing all the right things," Aurelio said to the kids. "So what's going on? I sold my business for 20 million dollars. People congratulated me, but no one asked me how I was really doing. I covered it up. All the accomplishments the good works...nothing! The stuff of this world would not take the pain away!"

Aurelio had been going to church for years and tried to live a moral life, but it wasn't until he was 38 years old that someone finally told him that he was a sinner and the penalty was hell. In his own words:
"In a flash, I realized what I was missing! I reached out and asked for forgiveness. That day I was saved...at 38 yrs old!"

Aurelio then challenged the students; "What about you? Are you trying to get your house in order? Believe in the name of Jesus!" Using
Hebrews 4:16, "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Aurelio called students to raise their hands if they wanted to know Christ as their personal Savior. During the prayer, several students' hands went up in response to his alter call!
You parents need to know that your donations helped draw in those students, but that it was
your prayers that allowed the Holy Spirit to work in such a mighty way! Aurelio told the parent helpers that he had 400 people praying over the Huddle! Additionally, one of our parent helpers was praying for a specific student during Aurelio's talk, and that very student raised his hand to accept Christ! We cannot help but be reminded of God's promise in James 5:16 that "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." Halleluia!
What a blessing it is to be part of a ministry that seeks the lost and leads them to the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE!!

Please pray for these new Christians, that they would connect with a youth group so they can grow in their faith. Pray also for our student leaders that they would continue to be living testimonies on Foothill's campus.
There is only one Huddle left--May 30th. Our FCA Senior Leadership kids will be speaking, so please pray that the Holy Spirit will use them to pierce the hearts of our students with the Hope of the Gospel!

Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Your fellow laborers,
Linda and Cherie

Irvine Huddle Recap

                                  Good Morning FCA Families!!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend  Here is a quick recap of our last FCA Huddle.  Once again, the turnout was incredible, the bleachers were packed.  Lots of new faces too.  We even had several youth Pastors in attendance!!

Our speaker was Jon Mcbirney from Mariners Church.

I ask
ed Da-Chen Huang, one of our Senior FCA student leaders to write as short description of Jon’s message.  Here it is:
“Jon shared with us that everyone has a story. Whether you’re battling cancer or entering a UCI track meet every story is unique. We live every day for a new experience. Life keeps coming at you so you got to make the best of it. God invites you to a life of adventure. Don’t be afraid to come to him because you don’t think your good enough. God already knows everything about you but still loves you unconditionally. If you can trust him life won’t be perfect but it will be very fulfilling. There’s is a life of light out there for everyone and you can choose to come out of the darkness. Create a new story and greater experiences with Christ. There is a cost of living in Christ and a cost of living without him. The cost of living without him is greater. You are invited to an everlasting life with Christ.”
The kids really connected with Jon’s message.  Afterwards, Jared shared with everyone this wonderful news....
Nathan Schwegman (the young man who spoke a few weeks back and all of the kids prayed over) was told he had one year to live a few months ago, because of stage 4 melanoma. As of Tuesday April 10th, he is 98% cancer free! ...God is the healer!

Our Huddles of course could not happen with out the support of our wonderful parents:
